• The Marine Corps JROTC program at Rahway High Schools has a rich history that spans more than 22 years!

    The Rahway High School MCJROTC Program was chartered on 01 September 1993. The first Senior Marine Instructor was Colonel Jack Howell. Colonel Howell assumed his duties on 01 September 1993. Colonel Howell left Rahway MCJROTC on 01 March 1994 for another MCJROTC position in Florida.

    Lieutenant Colonel Perrara stepped in on 01 March to keep the MCJROTC Program at Rahway up and running. Lieutenant Colonel Perrara remained at Rahway High School until the end of the 93/94 school year.

    There was no assigned instructor at Rahway during that summer until Captain Rodney J. Logan assumed all duties as the third Senior Marine Instructor on 01 September 1994.

    On 01 May 1995 Sergeant Major George E. Henry assumed all duties as the first Marine Instructor at Rahway High School. Captain Logan departed Rahway High School on 21 April 1999 and Sergeant Major Henry assumed the duties as Senior Marine Instructor. The post of Marine Instructor remained vacant until 01 July 1999 when Master Sergeant Gregory Mintz assumed all duties of that post. Master Sergeant joined the Marine Corps on 29 June 1976 and was assigned the MOS 0351. The Master Sergeant served for 22 years and retired on 31 Dec 1997. Upon retiring he serve as Senior Marine Instructor at Saint Peter’s Prep High School in New Bruinswick. He joined the Rahway High School MCJROTC as the Marine Instructor on 01 July 1999.

    On 01 July 1999 Master Sergeant Gregory Mintz assumed all duties as the Marine Instructor. Sergeant Major George E. Henry departed Rahway High School at the end of SY 10/11. On 01 July 2011 Master Sergeant Gregory Mintz assumed the duties as Senior Marine Instructor. The post of Marine Instructor remained vacant until 01 July 2012 when Gunnery Sergeant Cedric J. Jefferson assumed all duties as the Marine Instructor.

    The post of Marine Instructor remained vacant until 01 July 2012 when Gunnery Sergeant Cedric J. Jefferson assumed all duties as the Marine Instructor. Gunnery Sergeant Cedric J. Jefferson joined the Rahway High School MCJROTC on 01 July 2012 and departed at the end of SY 13/14. The post of Marine Instructor remained vacant for SY 14/15 school year.

    On 6 July 2015 Captain Jerry Parchman joined the Rahway High School MCJROTC and assumed all duties as the Senior Marine Instructor. Upon Captain Parchman’s arrival, Master Sergeant Mintz returned to the post of Marine Instructor. Captain Jerry Parchman joined the Marine Corps on 28 May 1990 and had the MOS of 2531, Field Radio Operator. After serving for 12 years enlisted, he earned his commission and became a MAGTF Intelligence Officer. Captain Parchman served on active duty for 23 years and retired on 31 June 2013.
