World Language

The World Language Department aims to provide a well-articulated, sequential study of world language that exposes all students to authentic and meaningful language and cultural learning experiences. These experiences are designed to develop communicative proficiency according to ACTFL’s Proficiency Guidelines while also fostering students’ appreciation for cultural and linguistic diversity.

Students learn the target language in an immersion setting which provides a language-rich environment where vocabulary, grammar, and culture are presented in context. Students are engaged in learning activities and assessments that are geared towards the three modes of communication in order to develop students’ reading, listening, speaking, and writing skills in the target language.
