Chromebook Distribution for Hybrid Students
UPDATED: February 17, 2021
If your child is scheduled to return to school in March in the Hybrid Teaching model and will be needing a district-owned Chromebook for use in school and at home. Due to the weather forecast, the 2/18 and 2/19 events have been rescheduled. We will now be holding two rescheduled distribution days, one on February 25th and one on February 26th. The location will be the Rahway 7th and 8th Grade Academy, at the flagpole entrance. On February 25th, pickup will occur from 12:00 Noon to 3:00 PM and then again from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. On February 26th, pickup will occur from 12:00 Noon to 3:00 PM only. Parking will be available in the Academy parking lot and on Kline Place.
We will be sending a pickup authorization document to you via email that is specific to your child. You will print and present the authorization document, or show it on your smartphone when you come to pick up the Chromebook. This will make the pickup process speedy for everyone. Please check your email account on Wednesday, February 24th for the authorization document email.
You must have the following requirements met in order to pick up a Chromebook.
- Completed 2020-21 Annual Information Update (applies to students who were registered in the district since 2019-20) OR 2020-21 New Student Registration.
- Assigned to Hybrid Teaching track in PowerSchool - Check the yellow banner in the Parent Portal. It must read, "As of March, 2021, (name) will be in Hybrid Group (A/B)."
If you do not meet both of the above requirements, you cannot pick up a Chromebook. If you need assistance with accessing the PowerSchool Parent Portal and/or completing the Annual Information Update (if needed), please contact the main office of your child's school.
AT THE DISTRIBUTION SITE:
Because of the wintry weather, we will be holding the distribution event in the Rahway Academy cafeteria. Due to the COVID-19 occupancy restrictions, we must have no more than 40 parents/guardians/students in the building at any one time. If we are at full capacity, you will get an assigned “customer” number and we will post the number on a web page that you can view on a smartphone. The website address will be posted on the district website and we will give it to you when you get your number. You can wait in the cafeteria or you can wait in your car and view the web page on your phone until your number is called.
