THEATRE GRADING POLICY
Theatre is a collaborative effort and your participation is vital to the success of the class —therefore, you are expected to participate every day, whether we are rehearsing, playing theatre games, or having a discussion. You will receive a weekly participation grade for the quality of work presented in class and your commitment to learning. You are expected to use your time at home to continue work started in class. The actor’s homework will consist of memorization, additional rehearsal time, script reading and analysis, theatre history assignments, actor’s journal prompts, character observations, and much more!
Sample activities to include (but not limited) the following:

Weekly Participation Grade: Each week you will receive a grade for your participation in class. Energy, eagerness, behavior, adherence to classroom rules, and preparedness will all be taken into account. Please use the following guidelines in reference to the weekly participation grade:
100 points The student is actively engaged in class and is adhering to all classroom rules. The student is on-time to class and is ready/willing to work.
85 points The student is sometimes engaged in class and is sometimes following the classroom rules with a minor infraction. The student may be late to class and is sometimes ready/willing to work.
75 points The student is infrequently engaged in class and is breaking one or more classroom rules. The student is continuously late to class and is rarely ready/willing to work.
65 points The student is not engaged in class and is breaking one or more classroom rules. The student is continuously late to class and is unwilling to work.
50 points The student is not engaged in class and is breaking one or more classroom rules. The student is continuously late to class and is unwilling to work. The student is disrespectful of their peers and teacher and has caused a major disruption in the learning environment for all.
The majority of your grade will be based on your preparation and performance on major performances and projects. Not all performances are graded--some count as participation. I will always announce when an activity is receiving a performance grade. Remember, you are being graded on your personal best work and growth! If you have a GREAT attitude and work hard, you will be VERY SUCCESSFUL in this class and department.
Although most of your grade will be based on performance, you will have tests and quizzes covering various theatre topics. Assessments can also be in the form of worksheets, Google forms, unfinished work from class, etc.
Due to the unique circumstances surrounding our virtual learning experience this marking period, details regarding specific unit assessments will be discussed within each course and posted within each Google Classroom.
