OUR MISSION
The mission of Madison School is to create a collaborative school culture, in which there is a partnership with parents and the community, to ensure that all students reach their highest potential academically, socially, emotionally and physically, in a positive and safe learning environment where student successes are celebrated.
Collaboratively, we will focus on improved student learning and performance, based on evidence, while providing challenging student centered learning opportunities for all students which foster independence, employ problem solving and critical thinking and integrate real world connections. We will empower students to develop character, build confidence and inspire lifelong learners who take a vested interest in their learning.

Dear Parents and Guardians,
This letter is to inform you that Madison Elementary School students in grades 3 through 6 will take the computer-based New Jersey Student Learning Assessment (NJSLA) in May 2022. All teachers and students have been working to meet the ELA and Mathematics New Jersey Learning Standards, which NJSLA will assess. Students in grade 5 will also take the NJSLA Science test, a computer-based assessment.
The testing schedule at Madison School is:
Just a reminder, a cell phone or other prohibited handheld device (e.g., smartphone, smartwatch, iPod) is not permitted at any time during testing. Devices should be turned off and placed in student lockers. Students may also hand in their turned-off device to their teacher, and it will be returned at the end of testing.
If an unauthorized electronic device is found during testing, the student’s test will be voided, and the device will be confiscated and returned only to a parent/guardian. Additional disciplinary consequences may occur according to the severity of the violation.
During the testing period, please help your child by doing the following:
Thank you for supporting your child. If you have any concerns or questions, please feel free to contact me.
Sincerely,
Ms. Volino-Reinoso

Read-A-Thon
Madison Elementary School has decided to hold a Read-a-thon this year to help raise money for a new school playground!
Read-a-thons actually get your reader excited about reading and it gives friends and family the opportunity to encourage your child to read even more. Our Read-a-thon starts Monday, March 7, 2022. About one week before our Read-a-thon starts we will send home instructions on how to activate your reader's personal page. This is where you will be able to view and record their progress.
We encourage you to activate your reader’s account today by clicking on https://www.read-a-thon.com/readers/r/PwTVNn/1 and following the simple instructions. We've chosen Read-a-thon because it will not take much of your time, gives your child a reason to read and helps in the development of stronger reading skills. We hope EVERYONE participates.
Thanks so much,
Madison Elementary School

Have Chromebook Questions?
Hello Madison Families,
One week down, and many exciting weeks ahead. Thank you for being patient as we work to make our entry into the building smoother and smoother. Please be reminded that the screening process is an important part of our mitigation strategies. I would like to thank all of the parents who contributed to a quick entry this morning.
The questionnaire is meant to be used as a tool to determine if your child is able to go to school. Please ask your children if they have symptoms. Please remember if your child is showing symptoms of COVID 19, please keep the child home and contact our office at 732-396-1070.
Please fill out the COVID Questionnaire by 8:00 am, this is essential to a smooth entry each morning and the safety of our students
The YMCA is offering before and aftercare on the Madison School Campus. Please see their website to register: Link: Before and After Care YMCA Link
At present, the Breakfast Program is full, and we can not accept more students. We will work to expand the program sometime next week. We will have yogurt available in the morning for all students who would like it.

Greetings to All!
Teachers' assignments are visible in the Parent Portal. In order to view your child’s assignment please update your Annual Update Form. Once your information has been updated, the schedule will be available. Schedules will be available in the Web version only (not the Parent/Student app). Please remember to be as thorough as possible with contact information. If you have any questions or need help, please email me at pvolino@rahway.net.
School begins on September 8th. Drop off begins at 8:26 am and the school day begins at 8:36 am. Students will line up outside the door closest to their classroom for entry. The specific door assignment will be included in the welcome letter to follow next week.
Please be advised as of this time, masking is required for all students and adults on school campus, and the daily Covid Questionnaire completion will be required each day. This questionnaire will be available daily in the Parent Portal and needs to be completed each morning by 8:00 am. The school district continues to work with local health authorities to provide a healthy and safe learning environment for all students and families.
Your child will line up with their class outside the door closest to their classroom. The Madison Staff will work quickly to confirm receipt of the COVID Questionnaire, and do a visual assessment of each student for symptoms and then enter the building. Once inside the building teachers will ask the children related health questions. If any child demonstrates symptoms at that time, they will be seen by the nurse and the parent will be contacted. Working together to complete the daily COVID questionnaire and keeping children home when displaying any symptoms will help keep our school community safe, and entry into the building safe, quick, and orderly.
Our Breakfast Club will begin on September 9th at 8:00 am. A Sign Up Genius link will be forwarded to families on September 2nd. Please register your child to ensure placement into this program. Seating will be limited to ensure social distancing. Please be reminded to fill out the COVID questionnaire prior to arriving at school.
The YMCA is offering before and after care on the Madison School Campus. Please see their website to register: Link: Before and After Care YMCA Link
As our first day of school year 2021-2022 approaches students and staff may have increased questions, excitement, and anticipation. Please let your children know that the Madison Staff is excited to welcome everyone back for in-person instruction, and are working diligently to ensure a happy, healthy and productive school year. I have seen some parents walking their children and picnicking on school grounds to start to get the children acclimated to the school setting. I think that is a wonderful idea. Please feel welcome to visit the grounds. Remember to Chalk our walks the week of September 5th to make everyone feel welcome!
Enjoy your weekend,
Ms. Volino-Reinoso
