Ms. Arcuri’s 6th Grade Language Arts "Subordinate Conjunction Unit" The students actively engaged in making real life connects with subordinate conjunctions. They had to create a rap, song, poem, or skit with a poster that represented their Thanksgiving or Autumn season experiences using subordinate conjunctions. The students then had to perform their cooperative group work for a presentation grade based on a rubric that concluded the unit. "Punctuation of Dialogue" After working in the classroom on Punctuation of Dialogue, the students wrote dialogue for characters in authentic literature such as, “Thanksgiving in Polynesia” by Susan Haven. Then they came to the lab and practiced their skills by using a program called Storybook Weaver. They were able to take phrases of dialogue, punctuate them, and then illustrate how the scene should look. Developed and Maintained by Rahway Middle School.
