Meet Our Principal

  Mr. Johnson

Osaze and Tai John from Ms. Bechelli’s fifth grade interviewed Mr. Johnson.

Q: Where have you worked before?

A: I have taught and been an administrator in Newark, Asbury Park, and Plainfield.  My last job was as a vice-principal in Plainfield.

Q: Why did you want to be a principal?

A: I love working with children.

Q: Do you ever miss being a classroom teacher?

A: Yes, I especially miss teaching children about math.

Q: Who was the biggest influence in your life?

A: My father was my most important influence because he showed me how to conduct myself.

Q: What are your hobbies?  What do you do in your spare time?

A: I play the piano and practice karate.  I also enjoy riding my motorcycle when the weather is nice.

Q: Tell us about your family.

A: I live with my wife and two children.  My son’s name is James and my daughter’s name is Aliyah.

Q: What is the most important piece of advice you have to offer students?

A: Study hard and listen to your parents.

Q: What’s the best book you ever read?

A: I really liked The Autobiography of Malcolm X because it gave me an historical account of the life of an African-American in the 1950s and 1960s.

Q: If money were no object, how would you spend it on our school?

A: I would purchase every student a laptop computer.

Q: When you die a very, very old man after a very successful career, what do you want written on your tombstone?

A: I tried to make a difference in the lives of children.
