LOVE OF READING!

Superintendent of the Rahway School District, Frank Buglione, kicked-off his campaign for Reading Literacy at Madison Elementary School on October 8.  He challenged the students to send him on an imaginary trip to the Moon and back.  It is a 240,000 mile trip. This means students need to read at least 75,000 books by the end of this school year to accomplish that. For every five books a student reads, Mr. Buglione will move one mile closer to the Moon.  The goal of this campaign is to encourage a love of reading. The Accelerated Reading Program, which is a computerized program quizzing students on the book they read, is just one of the many ways teachers in Rahway keep track of what books their students are reading and how many they are reading.  Hopefully, Superintendent Buglione will get to the Moon and back by June.

THANK YOU, MR. LITCHMAN FOR A WONDERFUL 8 WEEKS!

Mr. Litchman is our Computer Teacher.  His job is to spend one marking period in each of the four elementary schools.

Madison School was his first assignment and we thank him for a wonderful job.  He met with each class twice a week for 45 minutes to teacher computer skills and programs.

We will miss you.
